Sirs,
I am a very regular user of the recycling centre for all categories of waste. When the current system was put into place by the new contractor who took over from Hills last year, the staff (who always keep the place very clean and tidy) received a huge amount of unwarranted abuse, to the extent that at least one of them very nearly resigned.
The useful tip which I quickly learned is not to over-fill the bags, particularly the green waste ones, so that they can be more easily lifted up and over the guard rail. And there are 8 steps up (I always count them!), not ‘at least 10’, although they are indeed fairly steep – as I am quite arthritic I need to have one hand on the hand rail to help me up, but I find that other people will always offer help, as do the staff insofar as they are allowed as there are regulations against them doing so.
Also drivers who are not capable of reverse parking create a hazard when emptying their bags and boxes into the central driving lane, it’s a safety issue.
