A man was arrested earlier this morning following a theft of alcohol from Marlborough’s Waitrose store.
At approximately 10.30am this morning (22 Feb), Police were notified that a man had stolen alcohol from Waitrose in Marlborough.
When staff followed the suspect to challenge him, he got into a Vauxhall Astra and made off from the scene.
Descriptions of the suspect and vehicle involved were passed to officers who located a vehicle matching the description approaching junction 15 of the M4 and the vehicle was located in Butts Road, Chisleldon following which a 29-year-old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of theft.
He was taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning where he remains. Recovery was arranged for the vehicle to enable further enquiries to be carried out.
