Over six hundred people attended Chilton Foliat Primary School’s ‘Greatest Showman’ themed summer fete on Saturday June 22. The event raised nearly £3,000 towards a new classroom and Community Clubhouse.
The fete, organised by the Friends of Chilton Foliat Primary School, was opened by Canon Simon Weedon. This was followed by children from the school singing songs from ‘The Greatest Showman’ – ‘A million dreams is all it’s gonna take…”
The fete also featured: Zoolab (a ranger-led exotic animal handling workshop), circus skills workshops run by Clare’s Circus, Lily the real-life unicorn, a balloon modeller, a giant inflatable, dance displays, candy floss, a ‘Greatest Showman’ fancy dress competition, cake sale, face painting, traditional stalls, games and lots more.
Katie Turner is headteacher at Chilton Foliat Primary School: “The sun shone down on us to ensure that the summer fete, one of the highlights of our year, provided a great family day out for both the school and local community.”
“We are hugely grateful to the Friends Group for all their hard work in making the event such a success, while raising much needed funds for the school.”
The school will continue to fundraise for its new classroom and to support the new and improved Community Club House. A campaign was launched in September to raise £85,000 to fund the new Community Club House to provide space for Chilton Childcare which runs the Early Birds Club, After School Club and Holiday Club and will also be used by other community groups. £80,000 has been raised so far.
The school is grateful to the sponsors of the summer fete: Marc Allen Estate Agents, The Wheatsheaf pub, Humane Pest Control Solutions, Cooper & Cooper, Wiltshire Concrete, Roger King Antiques and Styles Silver.
