Bigger, better, with a top headline act and now moved to the Norwood Hall at Marlborough College, Marlborough RFC’s Summer Ball on Saturday 22 June promises to be one of the town’s Summer highlights.
Headlining will be Rick Parfitt Jnr and his RPJ Band, with Rick following in his Dad’s famous ‘Status Quo’ footsteps. RPJ Band consist of Rick with some of the best session players in the country.
Over the last ten years, the band has played all over the world, headlining music festivals, playing live at ‘BBC Sports Personality of the Year’, appearing on Silverstone’s main stage for the British Grand Prix – and now the MRFC Summer Ball…
They have shared stages with many well-known artists such as Eric Clapton, The Script, Will Young, Status Quo, Robert Plant, Madness and may more. Their trademark is sheer energy which is always infectious and they insist all their gigs are engaging, uplifting and foot stomping, so all the guests should be in for a real treat.
It’s a change of venue for the Summer Ball which now moves from the traditional marquee on The Common by the MRFC Clubhouse to the larger Norwood Hall at Marlborough College.
“Marlborough College provides us with a larger, more central venue, accessible to more people, especially those who don’t have direct connections with MRFC. This is a Summer Ball for all Marlborough residents and their friends, who want to enjoy a great night out with good food and music, in a lovely setting, whilst helping to raise money for local Marlborough sports teams” explained MRFC Treasurer Mark Thomas.
“As well as supporting the Rugby Club some of the evening’s proceeds will go towards Marlborough’s Sports Forum” he added. “The Rugby Club are members of the Sports Forum along with all the other main sports clubs in Marlborough and some of the money raised at the Summer Ball from ticket sales and auction items will go to the Sports Forum which is there for all participants of sport in the town, but particularly to support talented youngsters”.
It won’t be just Rick Parfitt and his RPJ Band playing Norwood Hall on 22 June. Stephen Bayliss will be entertaining guests during the meal and then again later after RPJ to keep the party going.
Stephen has toured with the likes of Sir Cliff Richard, led his own band as well as taking the lead in the Nat King Cole Story. He is a very talented solo artist, a singer and entertainer who will only add to the enjoyment of the evening.
